REBECCA SEELIG Provided to The Courier Newsweekly The artwork of April
Davis has been selected as this year’s commemorative poster for the 2016
ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival. The paining is titled “Gateway to Paradise
V- The Jupiter Inlet.” Throughout her 40-year career, artist April
Davis has presented a unique perspective through her work. By using her
inherent talents, the Jupiter resident focuses on bringing out the
beauty and tranquility of a specific scene like the winning one chosen
for this honor. “So many of us who live in Jupiter know the view from
the U.S. 1 bridge looking out at the inlet. It is amazing and changes
all the time,” said Davis who moved to Florida 20 years ago. She has
become known for her brilliant tropical landscapes and seascapes. “It
always brings me to paradise every time I see it. I hope I captured a
little of that in my new painting.” INSPIRATION “The inspiration for my
art has always come from the world around me, landscape being the
primary focus of my work now,” says Davis. “I have recently become aware
of trying to create a window into nature, bringing the outside in. By
working on a large scale, I believe it becomes easier for the viewer to
visually move inside my paintings, being transported to that space,
perceiving the image not through thought but through feeling.” The 2016
ArtiGras poster will be available for purchase online at
www.artigras.org or in the ArtiGras Merchandise Booth at the festival.
Patrons can visit Davis in the Merchandise Booth at ArtiGras where she
will be signing posters for patrons Saturday, Feb. 13 from 2 p.m. to 3
